Surviving the holidays and keeping your waistline (and sanity) in check may seem like a daunting task but it definitely can be done as long as you have a plan in place. Put these 5 tips to work and you’ll be on your way to rocking that little black dress with confidence come the New Year!
Tip #1 – Rest Up
Getting 7-9 hours of sleep each night will make the day to follow less stressful. It also helps to keep your immune system strong, improves your mood and helps you think clearer and make better decisions.
Tip #2 – Stay Hydrated
Drinking 8-10 glasses of water each day helps prevent overeating and energizes your muscles. If you’re attending a party, drink a glass of water between each alcoholic drink to minimize your calories from alcohol and prevent a hangover.
Tip #3 – Keep Working Out
Sticking to your regular workout routine as much as possible will help ward off any additional calories you may eat or drink. It will also help you feel better and give you more energy to enjoy all the holiday festivities.
Tip #4 – Throw Perfect Out The Window
If you are hosting a holiday party or have family coming to stay with you it’s easy to get overwhelmed and focus on making everything perfect. In the end, the people coming to celebrate with you don’t care if your house isn’t spotless or if you didn’t decorate as much as you wanted. They are there to spend time with you so let it go and enjoy your time with family and friends.
Tip #5 – Get an Accountability Partner
Having someone to check in with daily can help you both stay on track through the holiday season. Create a private facebook group or just text each other daily with snapshots of healthy meals, sweaty selfies and what your plan is for the day.
Last but not least, remember to be kind to others and love yourself. The holiday season only comes once a year so do your best to just sit back and enjoy the moments and let joy lead the way.
Have a wonderful Holiday Season!
